Agon-Coutainville is located on the west coast of the Cotentin (Côte des Havres), opposite to Jersey, 12 km west of Coutances. Coutainville is a seaside resort located on the coast, while the town of Agon is located further inland. The town extends to the south, the Pointe d'Agon (natural site) home to the harbour of Regnéville which is formed by the estuary of the Sienne. The northern boundary is marked by the harbour of Blainville, which is much smaller.[1]

Vessel type 2= Coastal/high sea vessels: Fishing vessels that fish 25% -75% of their time in the 12 nm zone.
Vessel type 3= High sea vessels: vessels that fish more than 75% of their time outside the coastal zone. These vessels fish offshore the French coast but are in some cases active in the coastal zone of other countries.[3]
