Talk:Functional traits

I propose to merge this page with the page on Biological Trait Analysis, and to subject both pages together to careful conceptual screening. In general, here better distinction is made between different categories, but nevertheless sentences appear like 'which biological traits provide the most useful description of ecological functioning'. While this is shortcut for 'the most useful description of aspects of biological diversity relevant to ecosystem functioning' and shortcuts are often, well, short and handy, one should not mix things up too much.

In my view some parts of the page are also too technical and a bit obscure. In particular the second paragraph is probably not needed at all in the context of the coastal Wiki. If it is kept, it should be explained better.

It is a bit restrictive, for the context of the Coastal Wiki, to speak only about benthic biodiversity
