Aegean Sea islands (Greece): a unique example of a large number of islands all belonging to the Region of South Aegean Sea. The area of the islands covers 5286 km² and equals to the 4% of the whole territorial area of Greece. The main coastal issues are tourism pressure, fishing management, aquaculture, and problems generated by intensive marine transport.
