Definition of Pacific trash vortex:
Refers to a patch of marine litter in the central North Pacific Ocean, mainly composed by plastic debris, which have been trapped by currents of the North Pacific Gyre and its area corresponds to aproximately twice the size of Texas. This trash vortex is estimated to contain concentrations of plastics in the order of 3.3 million pieces (5.1 kg) per square meter.
