Hastings

Administrative Port: Hastings
County: East Sussex
Population: 90300

Hastings is a town and borough in the county of East Sussex, on the south coast of England. Hastings was, for centuries, an important fishing port; although nowadays less important, it still has the largest beach-based fishing fleet in Europe. The fleet has been based on the same beach, below the cliffs at Hastings, for at least 400, possibly 600, years. Its longevity is attributed to the prolific fishing ground of Rye Bay nearby.
