Overarching science strategies, plans and policies

There is currently no specific Marine Biotechnology strategy or policy in Malta. Overarching Maltese Science & Technology Policy is described in a National Strategy for Research and Innovation for the period 2007-2010 (Building and Sustaining the Research and Innovation Enabling Framework). Currently a National Strategy for Research and Innovation for the period 2011-2020 is being developed.

The biotech/marine component of the National Research Strategy is implemented through the National R&I Funding Programme which is managed by the Malta Council for Science & Technology (MCST). A database of funded projects is available[1]
