In my opinion, this article is not up to date. Apart from 1, all references are dated before 1995. In the meantime a lot has been done on mud (a.o. in the COSINUS project). A more comprehensive review of the topic can be found in the article “mud dynamics” by E. Toorman.

Apart from a brief definition of “mud”, this article is basically on “flocculation”.

According to the definition, fine materials would only settle “in deep water”. This implies that there would be no mud in estuaries, which is clearly incorrect.

In my opinion, this article is not up to date. Apart from 1, all references are dated before 1995. In the meantime a lot has been done on mud (a.o. in the COSINUS project). A more comprehensive review of the topic can be found in the article Dynamics of mud transport by E. Toorman.
