Definition of Bottleneck:
Bottleneck is a sudden decrease of the population in size, usually due to adverse environmental factors.
During bottlenecks, a population shrinks temporarily and therefore loses genetic variation. Bottlenecks also result from alterations in gene flow such as decreased migration, expansions into new habitats, or population subdivision.[1]
This is the common definition for Bottleneck, other definitions can be discussed in the article
